Pastor's March Message

3/11/2018

Message from The King's Crown
IN NOMINE JESU CHRISTI
Picture
   Jesus tells us, "take my yoke upon you and learn from me." There are many things we can learn from Jesus our Savior and Lord. Chief among them, how to pray. The great old lenten hymn above is really a survey of the passion of Christ Jesus. Each stanza a particular facet of His life and our life in Him.
Prayer. Jesus made it His habit to be in constant contact with His Father–Our Father! Often He went out by Himself to a lonely place, away from the crowds and even away from His Disciples to speak from His heart the pain and loneliness of being the Son of God and Son of Man, Dark Gethsemane is a bit different as He asks His Disciples Peter, James, and John to be with Him to "keep watch." He wants His closest friends to be near Him on this "night when He was betrayed." The content of His prayer? "Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will." In your prayer life, remember, the will of God is always best and God always works together all things for your own eternal good–even through sorrow and pain.
Follow to the judgment hall, View the Lord of life arraigned;
Oh, the wormwood and the gall! Oh, the pangs He sustained!
Shun not suff’ring, shame, or loss; Learn from Him to bear the cross.
   Bear the cross. Jesus tells us, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." Cross bearing is not easy. In fact, to bear the cross of suffering, shame, and loss is impossible except by the grace of God. Jesus relied on His Father to take Him through the horrifying Friday of His death. But for us it is Good Friday for He bore that cross for us. In His power and love, you, too, will find the power to faithfully bear your own cross unto eternal life.
Calv’rys mournful mountain climb; There, adoring at His feet,
Mark that miracle of time, God’s own sacrifice complete.
"It is finished!" hear Him cry; Learn from Jesus Christ to die.
   Death. Everyone of us fears the process of dying. What will happen? What thoughts will fill my mind? Is my faith strong enough? But, we need not fear! The only person to ever be forsaken by God is Jesus Christ Himself. As He became all sin and every sinner on the cross, He took the punishment that you and I deserve. Your sins are forgiven!
  Your faith is secure in Christ, not in self! God will never leave you or forsake you! He will see you through death’s dark portal into heaven itself. And, wonder of wonders, there is Resurrection and the reality of life eternal body and soul. Easter is coming and new life forever. Friend, observe Lent and Holy Week with Jesus. Pray, bear your cross, die to sin. Hear His Word! Believe His promises!
Early hasten to the tomb Where they laid His breathless clay;
All is solitude and gloom. Who has taken Him away?
Christ is ris’n! He meets our eyes. Savior, teach us so to rise.
HAPPY EASTER!
