Message from The King's Crown IN NOMINE JESU CHRISTI Jesus, rock of strength, my tower, In your death I put my trust. When you died, death lost its power, When you rose, it turned to dust. Let your bitter agony, Suffered for us, comfort me. Dying, Lord, in its protection, I have life and resurrection. Since March 1 is Ash Wednesday, we are now entered upon the great and holy season of Lent. This is the time in the church year in which we focus especially on Jesus in His work as the atoning sacrifice for all sin. On the Cross, through His blood and death, Jesus truly put death to death. It was His real flesh and blood that was nailed to the awful tree of Golgotha. Because of Jesus’ willing love for us we are lifted from the dust of death into the heavenly realms of eternal life. Not only in the life to come—but here and now! You see dear friends in our holy Baptism we are the very Body of Christ. By grace we become the branches in the life-giving vine that is Jesus. We are nurtured by His Word and set to bear much fruit. Lent 2017 will serve to anchor us more firmly into His Word and church. Lent 2017 will build in us greater care and concern for each fellow member and also cause us to see the need for others to be grafted into Christ Jesus our Lord. Please make sure to take advantage of the extra opportunities for worship and meditation that Lent brings. This Lent 2017 we have a marvelous subject and theme to consider: "The Salutary Gift: The Lord’s Supper." Each Wednesday we will join together as the Body of Christ and give our attention to Jesus and His love for us in His Body and His Blood "given and shed for the forgiveness of sins." Please find our schedule for our Lenten, Holy Week, and Eastertide Divine Services in this King’s Crown. Your faithful participation will sharpen your focus on what has true value for you and your family and bring you much comfort. We are also continuing our delicious pre-service Suppers sponsored by various Boards, Committees and Service Groups here at CTK. Brothers and Sisters in Christ, don’t allow the thorny cares of this world and its temptations swerve you away from God’s Word in Christ. Exercise fully your status and abilities as fellow members of Christ’s Body. In Word and Worship and in the Lord’s Supper be filled with courage and purpose. Filled with the love of Christ you will shine forth and make a difference in the lives of others that need Christ so much. God bless you.
