LCMS Disaster Response: Hurricane Harvey

8/30/2017

Picture
At least 161 LCMS congregations are in the areas affected by Hurricane Harvey and the floods. The Synod stands with those in need through prayer and support.

“For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all” (2 COR. 5:14). The love of Christ compels us to love everyone. Love flows from the cross in service to those in need, just as Christ came in the flesh to save.

You can help those suffering from the effects of the storm and the floodwaters. LCMS World Relief and Human Care, through Disaster Response, is working with the Texas District to support relief efforts and to aid those in need.

To Give:
• Online — Visit lcms.org/harvey.
• By text — Text “LCMSHARVEY” to 41444.
• Over the phone — Call the LCMS toll-free gift line between 8 a.m. and 4:10 p.m. Central time at 888-930-4438 or the LCMS Church Information Center at 888-843-5267.
• By mail — Make checks payable to “The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod” (or “LCMS”). On the memo line, write “Disaster Response/Relief,” and mail to the LCMS, P.O. Box 66861, St. Louis, MO, 63166-6861. Gifts also can be designated specifically for Hurricane Harvey and/or affected areas by stipulating in the memo line.
Prayer:
Lord of heaven and earth,
we know that You hold all
things in Your hands. In
Your mercy, provide for the
needs of those who have been
affected by Hurricane Harvey
and the rain that continues
to fall, work through those
who bring relief and aid, and
protect all from any further
harm. Draw all to the cross of
Christ, who is our salvation
now and always. We ask this
in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Gifts are tax-deductible as allowed by law. Additional information about our LCMS response, and the impact your gifts are having, will be available over the weeks and months ahead at lcms.org, on the Synod’s social media outlets, and in our official periodicals and publications
