Message from The King's Crown
IN NOMINE JESU CHRISTI
Picture
Dear Christian Friends: Rejoice! Here at Christ the King God our Father is well pleased to give His people every grace and blessing from His loving heart. Of course, the very best blessing of all is our Savior, Jesus Christ. In Him—the tender babe of Bethlehem—we have real connection with our Father. He calls us sons and daughters because Jesus willingly came into this world of sin and death to be one of us for all of us. As we begin a brand new year 2018 as God’s CTK children it is good to take stock of the reality of our state before a righteous God and the grace and mercy He brings in Christ Jesus our King.
The perfect Law of God our Father, the Law that condemns us to everlasting death, is kept perfectly for us by Jesus Himself. The wicked Tempter, Satan is defeated forever for us by our Lord Jesus. The forgiveness of sin without which we wither and decay in God’s wrath is given us in the once for all sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross. We are made right with our Father through Jesus’ wonderful resurrection from death on Easter Sunday. It is Jesus own death and resurrection that you are baptized into. Thus God creates an indissoluble connection between He and we. Now nothing can stand in the way of our responding to God in love and service. Nothing except our stubborn unbelief.
Our Father knows this! That is why the Father’s blessings never stop. Jesus established His church here on earth in order that His death and resurrection, His power and love, His Word and Sacraments might be proclaimed to the ends of the earth. In that proclamation, as we pray, praise and give thanks, we receive all the blessings of forgiveness, life, and salvation in Christ Jesus.
Friends in Christ, the year of our Lord 2018 gives us all an excellent opportunity to rededicate our lives to our Father and His will. Just before He showed the full extent of His love for us on the Cross, Jesus prayed to His Father, "Father, the time is come. Glorify you Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they may know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." (John 17:1-3)
We are forgiven, justified, and glorified in Christ with the very glory of God. Yes, it is hidden from us in the swirl of a ruined world. But the glory is revealed to us week in and week out in worship and the Lord’s Supper. Perhaps you’ve become a little stale in your appreciation of Jesus Christ and that staleness is reflected in your attitude toward holy things. Please, dear friend, be and act like God has made you to be and act. Be like Jesus! God gives you the strength. Worship, pray, and act in God’s Spirit and Truth each week of the new year and always.

God bless you. Happy New Year!
