Today we find Jesus and His Disciples continuing to travel in Galilee to the "villages of Caesarea Philippi" preaching the Gospel. The Good News of Christ and the Kingdom of God which He brings and the salvation that He gives must be proclaimed. That’s what we at CTK are all about, too. Yet, on the way, the Disciples, and we ourselves get things mixed up. Jesus and His salvation are only possible in the horror and death of the cross and the glory and victory of the resurrection. We find that the Gospel is not about us and what we do for Jesus but, always and ever, what He does for us! Peter, the great confessor of Jesus and leader of the Disciples, gets it wrong. He has in mind "the things of man", that is, the pride and pomp and importance of this world now passing away. We often do the same. Christ Jesus sets Peter and us straight. The death and resurrection of Christ Jesus, and faith therein, is the only way to the Father.
