Advent, that brief season tucked away between Thanksgiving and Christmas, is driving swiftly to Christmas Eve, the last Sunday in Advent. On Wednesday we actually celebrated our CTK Family Christmas complete with the Christmas Gospel and the wonderful candles of Christmas. But today is still Advent. We yet consider our need for God’s gift of repentance and forgiveness of sin. In this important consideration the Prophet John the Baptist stands tall. It is his testimony of the Christ, the Messiah that rings out today in John’s Gospel. "I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord’ as the prophet Isaiah said...I baptize with water, but one stands among you you do not know, even He who comes after me, the strap of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie." In this passing away world of sin and death, may we ever hear this voice and celebrate the Christ, our Savior and King Jesus whose final coming we so long for. TAGS: Service Announcements
